The way hotels are built and decorated has shifted a lot because of guests preferences, new technology and big changes in society

Let’s look how these factors have made hotel design evolve over time.

Early 20th Century

Hotels of the early 20th century were opulent and grandiose, designed to cater to the affluent classes.

They featured lavish lobbies, grand ballrooms and luxury materials like marble, gold, and crystal.

They reflected the wealth and status. These hotels served as social hubs and hosting balls for high society events.

  • The Ritz London. Opened in 1906, The Ritz exemplifies luxury with its grandiose architecture, lavish interiors, including Louis XVI-style furnishings.
  • The Plaza Hotel, New York. Crystal chandeliers and elegant rooms – signature design of New York’s Plaza Hotel opened in 1907.

Mid-20th Century

After World War II the economic boom and rise of the automobile culture led to the popularity of motels and chain hotels.

They prioritized functional design and low costs to cater middle-class families traveling by car. The architecture became more standardized and more minimalistic.

Motels offered convenient roadside accommodations often with amenities like free parking and pool access.

  • Holiday Inn – Representing the rise of chain hotels, Holiday Inn became synonymous with affordable, standardized lodging across the United States, starting in the 1950s.
  • Motel 6 Founded in 1962, Motel 6 exemplified the functional and accessible design of motels, offering very simple and affordable rooms.

Late 20th Century

The 1980s and 1990s saw the emergence of boutique hotels with unique and themed designs.

The goal was to offer an immersive experience. Design elements were tailored to create distinctive environments, from retro-chic to modern minimalist.

  • Morgans Hotel, New York – Opened in 1984, Morgans Hotel is often cited as the first boutique hotel, featuring a stylish and unique design.
  • Kimpton Hotels – Starting in 1981, Kimpton Hotels became known for its unique designs.

Early 21st Century

Sustainability and technology became driving forces in hotel design. The use of renewable energy, water-saving fixtures, and recycled materials, became increasingly important.

  • 1 Hotel Central Park, New York – This hotel focuses on sustainability. It has organic bedding, and a living green wall.
  • Aloft HotelsPart of the Starwood group, Aloft Hotels incorporate modern technology and design, offering features like keyless entry and a tech-forward guest experience.

Recent Trends

Recent trends in hotel design emphasize experience-driven concepts, blending indoor and outdoor spaces and focusing on personalization and flexibility.

Hotels now offer varied experiences, including themed accommodations, wellness-centric amenities, and spaces that adapt to different activities like co-working and socializing.

This shift reflects the changing lifestyle of travelers who seek not just a place to stay but a memorable experience.

  • Treehotel, Sweden Offering a unique blend of nature and modern design, Treehotel features individual treehouse rooms with contemporary and eco-friendly designs.
  • Zoku AmsterdamThis hotel represents the trend of flexible living and working spaces, with its hybrid apartments designed for both short and long-term stays.
  • Big Sur’s unique offerings, where each property provides a distinct experience, whether it’s a cottage with ocean views or a secluded retreat in the wilderness. The Future

  • Hotel Ottilia, Copenhagen: This hotel incorporates advanced technology and sustainability, including self-cleaning rooms and energy-efficient systems.
  • The Zetter Townhouse, London: This hotel is an example of future trends with its focus on local community engagement, unique design elements, and personalized guest experiences.

The future of hotel design is expected to further integrate smart technology, sustainable practices, and community engagement. Hotels will likely focus on creating adaptive spaces that can serve multiple functions, from accommodation to social and business purposes. The design will continue to evolve to meet the environmental challenges, incorporating more green spaces, sustainable materials, and energy-efficient systems.

Throughout these periods, hotel design has continuously adapted to the changing needs and preferences of travelers, mirroring broader social and economic trends. From luxury and grandeur to functionality and efficiency, and now towards sustainability, technology, and personalized experiences, the evolution of hotel design reflects the dynamic nature of the travel and hospitality industry.

Eco-luxury travel is catching on because more and more people are seeing that luxury doesn’t have to be at odds with being eco-friendly.

Historic Hotels In The US

Let’s look at those well-established hotels across the US.

They’re known for their luxury and historical significance, aren’t they?

But now they’re getting noticed for something else too – their push towards sustainability.

These places are finding smart ways to save water and choose eco-friendly materials, all while keeping the luxury.

Glamping Is Where Nature Meets Luxury

Glamping stands for glamorous camping.

You are surrounded by nature without compromising on comfort.

It teaches us how to enjoy luxury mindfully.

Key Practices in Eco-Luxury

Digging into what makes these historic hotels and glamping sites both luxurious and green, here are some key practices:

  • Historic hotels are making big moves in energy efficiency (like switching to LED lights and upgrading to more efficient HVAC systems), water conservation (think low-flow showers and faucets), and choosing sustainable materials.

  • Glamping focuses on creating living spaces that blend in with the nature, such as tents or yurts. They’re big on renewable energy, often using solar panels and produce their own limited power. Plus, they support local and organic food initiatives.

A Shared Dedication to Nature

The glue holding these experiences together is the respect for nature.

It’s about indulging in luxury that doesn’t cost the earth, literally speaking.

Examples of Sustainability in Action

The Fairmont San Francisco

Take the Fairmont San Francisco as an example. This iconic hotel is a front-runner in sustainable luxury, shining with LED lighting and operating on high-efficiency boilers to cut down on energy use. Their water conservation efforts, like installing low-flow fixtures, massively reduce waste. And when it comes to renovations, they opt for materials that are both posh and planet-friendly, such as bamboo flooring or recycled tiles.

They’re working on cutting down their carbon footprint to zero by 2050 and getting rid of single-use plastics in their hotels. They’re big on saving energy, using water wisely, and reducing waste. Plus, when they fix up or build new parts of their hotels, they go for green options like bamboo floors or recycled materials. This is all part of a bigger plan by their parent company, Accor, to be more sustainable across all their hotels globally. So, it’s not just talk; they’re taking real steps to be better for the planet.

Glamping in Big Sur

Big Sur glamping offers sites designed to meld with the landscape, featuring structures like tents and yurts that barely leave a footprint.

They harness the power of the sun with solar panels, and when it comes to food, they’re all about local and organic, championing the local agriculture while cutting down on emissions.

Actionable Tips for Travelers

  • Be mindful of your water usage. Simple actions like taking shorter showers, reusing towels, and turning off the tap while brushing your teeth can make a significant difference in water conservation.
  • Reduce your plastic footprint. Pack reusable items like water bottles, shopping bags, and straws.
  • Whenever possible choose public transport, cycling, or walking over renting a car. If a car is necessary, opt for electric or hybrid vehicles.
  • Engage with wildlife ethically. Choose tours and activities that respect animal welfare and support conservation efforts such whale watching tours in Monterey where tour operators have marine biologist on boat doing research and they also collect plastic from the ocean on their way back. Hikinginbigsur.com has a collection of best whale watching tours in Monterey that you can check out.
  • Look for accommodations that have recognized environmental certifications such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Green Key, or EarthCheck.

The Future of Travel

In a world where the impact of tourism is increasingly under the microscope, eco-luxury travel offers a blueprint for the future — one where travel not only takes us to incredible places but also helps keep them that way for generations to come.

In the competitive hospitality industry, resorts and hotels are constantly seeking innovative methods to showcase their offerings and stand out from the crowd. With the advent of digital technology, 3D rendering emerges as a powerful tool to present physical spaces in a digital environment, providing potential guests with an immersive preview of their stay. This article explores the various ways resorts and hotels can leverage 3D rendering to highlight their unique features, add immersive media experiences, and outshine traditional venue photography.

Rendering Lets You Present Physical Space in a Digital Environment

3D rendering is a process that uses computer graphics to create a three-dimensional image of a design. For resorts and hotels, this technology offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform architectural plans and interior designs into lifelike digital representations. Unlike traditional two-dimensional images, 3D renderings allow viewers to experience the space from multiple angles and perspectives, giving them a comprehensive understanding of what to expect.

Advantages of 3D Rendering in Hospitality

  • Visual Appeal: High-quality 3D renderings are visually appealing and can capture the attention of potential guests browsing online for accommodations.
  • Detail Orientation: These renderings can highlight intricate details of the property, from the texture of the linens to the reflection of sunlight through windows, enhancing the overall appeal.
  • Flexibility: Before construction or renovation is complete, 3D renderings can be used for marketing purposes, offering a sneak peek into the future of the property.

By presenting a digital twin of their physical space, resorts, and hotels can create a compelling visual narrative that entices and engages potential guests long before they make a booking.

Easy to Highlight What Makes Your Hotel Stand Out

In a sea of accommodation options, 3D renderings provide a unique platform for hotels and resorts to showcase their standout features. Whether it’s a panoramic view from a balcony, the grandeur of a lobby, or the serenity of a spa, 3D visualization brings these elements to life in a way that photographs cannot match.

Showcasing Unique Selling Points

  • Customizable Experiences: Hotels can create tailored renderings to highlight specific features appealing to different market segments, such as families, couples, or business travelers.
  • Thematic Visuals: For properties with thematic designs or unique architectural elements, 3D renderings can effectively convey the concept and atmosphere of the space.
  • Seasonal Adjustments: Renderings can be easily updated to reflect seasonal decorations or themes, allowing properties to stay relevant and visually appealing year-round.

This flexibility and dynamism in presentation ensure that potential guests are not just informed about the features but are visually drawn to what makes a property unique.

Adding a Variety of Media for a More Immersive Experience

3D rendering goes beyond static images, allowing hotels and resorts to incorporate various media forms, such as virtual tours, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR), to create a more immersive experience.

Enhancing Guest Engagement

  • Virtual Tours: Prospective guests can navigate through the property at their own pace, exploring rooms, amenities, and facilities from the comfort of their homes.
  • Augmented Reality: AR applications can overlay digital information onto physical spaces seen through a device’s camera, offering interactive experiences such as viewing room features or amenities in detail.
  • Virtual Reality: VR takes immersion to the next level, enabling users to experience a virtual representation of the hotel as if they were physically present, which can be particularly effective at travel fairs or in travel agencies.

By integrating these media into their marketing strategies, resorts and hotels can significantly enhance the booking experience, making it engaging, informative, and memorable.

Why Virtual Travel is Better Than Venue Photography

While traditional photography has been a staple in marketing hotels and resorts, virtual travel through 3D rendering offers a far more engaging and informative experience. Unlike static images, 3D visualizations and virtual tours allow potential guests to immerse themselves in the environment, understanding the layout, ambiance, and features of a property in a way photos alone cannot convey.

Benefits Over Traditional Photography

  • Interactive Exploration: Virtual travel enables users to interact with the space, choosing where they want to go and what they want to see in detail.
  • Comprehensive Overview: 3D renderings can provide a 360-degree view, offering a complete perspective of rooms and amenities.
  • Emotional Connection: The immersive nature of virtual experiences can foster a stronger emotional connection with the property, influencing booking decisions.

This interactive and comprehensive approach to showcasing properties significantly enhances the decision-making process for potential guests, setting a new standard in hospitality marketing.

Preview Opportunities, Events, Upgrades, and More

3D rendering technology allows resorts and hotels to preview future opportunities, events, and upgrades in a visually compelling manner. This capability is invaluable for marketing purposes, as it can generate interest and excitement about what’s to come, even before it becomes a reality.

Showcasing Future Potentials

  • Event Planning: Hotels can create 3D visualizations of event setups, offering clients a realistic preview of weddings, conferences, or other gatherings.
  • Upcoming Renovations: Previewing planned renovations or additions through 3D renderings can keep current and potential guests excited about future visits.
  • New Amenities: Whether introducing a new spa, restaurant, or guest room design, 3D visuals allow hotels to market these enhancements effectively and attractively.

This forward-looking approach not only keeps guests informed but also actively engaged with the property’s evolution, encouraging repeat visits and referrals.

Conclusion

In the digital age, the way resorts and hotels present themselves online is crucial to attracting and retaining guests. 3D rendering offers a dynamic and immersive tool to showcase properties in unparalleled detail, from the comfort of a potential guest’s home. By highlighting unique features, enhancing the guest experience with interactive media, and providing previews of future developments, 3D rendering sets a new benchmark in hospitality marketing.

To fully leverage this technology, hotels and resorts need to collaborate with architectural rendering companies. These specialized firms possess the expertise and tools necessary to create high-quality, accurate, and visually stunning representations of physical spaces. Partnering with architectural CGI companies allows hospitality businesses to not only showcase their current offerings in the best light but also to strategize and plan future marketing campaigns around upcoming features and renovations.

In an increasingly competitive market, adopting advanced visualization techniques such as 3D rendering is not just an option; it’s a necessity for hotels and resorts aiming to stand out. By embracing this technology and working with skilled architectural CGI partners, hospitality businesses can ensure they attract more clients and offer an engaging, informative, and memorable booking experience.

There’s a certain magic in the hunt for the perfect travel memento – that serendipitous moment when you stumble upon an object so exquisite, that it feels as if it were waiting for you all along. I recall a time in New York, in the quiet corner of a cobbled street, where I found a watch so fine it seemed to tick with the very heartbeat of the city. It wasn’t just a timepiece; it was New York, captured in gold and sapphire, a treasure to adorn my wrist with memories.

In the world of luxury travel, the quest for such treasures takes on new dimensions. Luxury hotels are no longer just bastions of exemplary service and opulent suites; they have become sanctuaries of exclusive shopping experiences, where the discernment of high-end guests meets the epitome of sophisticated retail.

As we meander through marbled lobbies and traverse the hushed corridors of these grand establishments, a new narrative unfolds – one where the acquisition of a gift becomes as memorable as the stay itself. Imagine a place where the convergence of the world’s cultures is celebrated through a meticulously curated collection of gifts. Here, nestled among the finest, are custom knives, not merely tools but emblems of bespoke artistry.

These knives, available to the guests of luxury hotels, are more than mere collectible items. Each is a masterpiece, born from the fire-forged traditions of the bladesmith and infused with the personality of its bearer. With every careful selection, hotel guests are invited not just to partake in a purchase but to commission a piece of legacy, a slice of history, personalized to their touch.

As we venture into the realm of exclusive gifts and bespoke treasures, let us sharpen our focus on these custom knives – the pinnacle of handcrafted elegance – and discover how they carve their place in the hearts of those who understand the true weight of quality and legacy.

The Allure of the Unique: Why Custom Gifts Stand Out

In the luxury market, uniqueness is not just a feature – it is the cornerstone of value. Discerning patrons know that the rare, the one-of-a-kind, and the tailor-made offer a currency far beyond the ordinary. Custom gifts, therefore, stand at the pinnacle of desirability. They signal a departure from the mass-produced and a move towards the deeply personal, encapsulating the individual’s taste, story, and legacy. This rising trend of personalized gifting among affluent travelers marks a shift in the ethos of luxury consumption. Where once the brand name sufficed, now the narrative attached to an item – the bespoke journey of its creation – bestows the true hallmark of prestige. In a world awash with abundance, the ability to offer something uniquely personal is the new emblem of true luxury. It’s a trend that speaks to the heart of exclusivity; after all, to give a gift that is singular in the world is to recognize and honor the singular nature of its recipient.

Beyond Souvenirs: A Curated Shopping Experience

High-end hotel gift shops are worlds away from the typical souvenir stands that offer a predictable array of trinkets. Upon entering, guests are enveloped in an ambiance that speaks of quiet luxury and discerning taste. Soft lighting showcases carefully arranged displays, and the subtle scent of artisanal fragrances lingers in the air, promising exclusivity with every breath. Each item in these shops is selected with the utmost care, chosen not just for its beauty but for its ability to captivate and intrigue the sophisticated traveler.

The shelves and cases are not merely displays; they are a curated gallery of global craftsmanship. Here, one might find hand-woven textiles from remote artisan villages, jewelry that tells the story of its maker’s heritage, or limited-edition timepieces that marry innovation with timeless design. And as the eye wanders, it’s inevitably drawn to the showcase of custom knives. These are not your ordinary blades; each is a marriage of form and function, a celebration of metal and craftsmanship. They are set apart not just by their edge and handle but by their story and provenance, beckoning the connoisseur to come closer, to appreciate, and ultimately, to possess something beyond the ordinary – a slice of artistry made tangible.

The Noblie Collectibles: A Cut Above the Rest

In the most discerning corner of the hotel’s gift shop lies a selection that captures the eye of those with a refined appreciation for craftsmanship: the Noblie Collectibles. This dedicated space is a testament to the art of the blade, presenting a collection that is both a display and a homage to the ancient traditions of knifemaking. The Noblie corner is subtly set apart, its ambiance a shade richer, with deep wooden hues and soft, directional lighting that casts a warm glow on each custom knife, inviting a closer look.

Here, the craftsmanship of each knife is the centerpiece—a narrative of creation, from raw material to polished art. The bladesmiths of Noblie Collectibles are more than artisans; they are narrators of a storied craft. “Each knife is a confluence of history and art,” one bladesmith shares. “We forge not just with steel, but with the legacy of generations.” The handles bear materials as diverse and exquisite as the blades they complement, from the luxe touch of stag horn to the unique grain of rare woods, each piece telling its own story.

The artisans speak of their craft with a blend of reverence and passion. “When a guest selects one of our knives, they’re not just choosing a tool,” explains another craftsman, his hands accustomed to the dance of hammer and anvil. “They’re choosing a companion for their journeys, a piece of our soul that’s been shaped by fire, by skill, and by time.” The knives of Noblie are more than mere collectibles; they are individual legacies etched into steel, emblems of excellence that stand, unequivocally, a cut above the rest.

The Art of Custom Knives: Merging Tradition with Modern Luxury

The artistry of custom knifemaking is an ancient one, rooted in the bedrock of civilizations across the globe. From the katana of Japan, symbolizing the soul of the samurai, to the Bowie knife of the American frontier, embodying the ruggedness of the West, knives have always been more than mere tools. They have served as cultural touchstones, conveying the values and skills of the societies that crafted them. This deep historical significance is the pulse beneath every custom knife’s modern edge, merging tradition with the polished aesthetics of contemporary luxury.

Custom knifemaking today upholds this rich lineage, with artisans honoring the time-honored techniques of their craft while embracing innovation. The blades are a fusion of the past and the present, utilizing time-tested methods for forging and tempering steel alongside state-of-the-art materials for durability and precision. Each knife thus becomes a living archive, a testament to centuries of metallurgical evolution.

Yet, beyond their functional purpose, custom knives are revered as objects of beauty—a symphony of form and utility. The knife’s blade, with its perfect balance and sharpness, is complemented by a handle that might feature inlaid gemstones, intricate carvings, or the subtle luxury of hand-stitched leather. In the hands of a chef or an enthusiast, these knives are not just tools but extensions of personal expression, each cut a stroke of culinary artistry.

In this union of heritage and opulence, custom knives serve as both practical instruments and masterpieces of craftsmanship. They embody a lifestyle that appreciates the tactile connection to materials, the skill of the maker’s hand, and the narrative that every expertly crafted piece carries with it – a story that begins at the forge and continues at your collection. The custom knife is an experience, a form of luxury that is both tangible and intangible, cutting through the mundanity to reveal the extraordinary.

An Ode to Craftsmanship: From Porcelain Chess Sets to Historical Daggers

Nestled alongside the gleaming array of custom knives, the gift shop presents an assortment of treasures that are a testament to human ingenuity and artisanship. Each piece, from the delicate to the formidable, tells a story not just of design but of meticulous creation—a symphony of skill that resonates with every admirer’s gaze.

Take, for instance, the porcelain chess sets, where artistry meets intellect. The chessboard is a battlefield of beauty, each square laid with precision, a foundation for the drama to unfold. The pieces themselves are sculptural marvels, hand-painted with an attention to regal detail that rivals the great masterpieces of the canvas. Knights prance with manes flowing like liquid ivory, queens stand with crowns as intricate as spider webs, and kings carry the weight of their checkered realms in their noble stance.

In the same breath, one can’t overlook the historical daggers that glint with tales of valor and centuries-old secrets. These blades are more than weapons; they are archives of the past, each etched with patterns that speak of bygone eras. The hilts are often jeweled, cradling precious stones in their embrace, and wrapped in leathers that have been tooled and tanned through methods as old as time itself.

Each item, from the porcelain chess set’s majestic royalty to the historical dagger’s silent strength, is an ode to the human touch—the irreplaceable and unparalleled craftsmanship that machines cannot replicate. These are not mere objects but incarnations of tradition, sophistication, and a deep-rooted appreciation for the crafts that have shaped and beautified our world throughout the ages.

Gifting as an Experience: Personalization for the Elite

In the realm of luxury hospitality, personalization is the hallmark of true exclusivity. For the elite guest, a gift transcends its physical form to become a memorable experience—one that is tailored, thoughtful, and deeply personal. It is this bespoke nature that elevates a simple act of giving into a storied event, reflecting the distinctive tastes and experiences of the recipient.

Luxury hotel guests revel in the opportunity to imprint a part of themselves onto their selections. With custom knives, for instance, the experience is as sharp and defined as the blade itself. Patrons may choose to engrave a monogram, a special date, or a personal motto onto the knife’s handle or blade—a subtle yet enduring declaration of ownership and identity. The choice of materials can also reflect a guest’s individuality; perhaps the warm hues of a rare wood resonate with one’s character, or the sleekness of carbon fiber echoes another’s modern sensibility.

But personalization extends beyond mere aesthetics. The weight, balance, and grip of a knife can be adapted to fit the hand that wields it, ensuring each slicing motion is as comfortable as it is precise. This customization process invites the guests into the narrative of the knife’s creation, making them co-authors of its final form and function.

For those seeking to infuse their gifts with even greater personal significance, hoteliers might offer consultations with the artisans themselves. These exclusive encounters allow guests to convey their vision directly to the craftspeople, ensuring that every nuance of their preference is captured and reflected in the finished piece.

In this personalized approach, the act of gifting transforms into a dialogue—a conversation between maker, object, and recipient that imbues the item with a soulful essence. This is the essence of luxury gifting within the elite enclaves of high-end hotels, where the quest for the unique meets the pinnacle of personalized experience.

Making Memories: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

The most enchanting gifts are those that weave themselves into the fabric of our daily lives, becoming more than mere objects; they are conduits of memory, each use recalling a moment, a place, a whisper of luxury long after the journey has ended. For the discerning guests of luxury hotels, an item like a custom knife doesn’t merely serve its functional purpose; it becomes a talisman of their travels, a slice of the opulence they savored, and a tool that enriches their culinary adventures.

A custom knife, chosen amid the splendor of a grand hotel, does not fade into the recesses of a drawer. It stands proudly on the fireplace, its edge as keen as the memories it upholds. With each use, the owner is transported back to the luxurious haven where it was acquired, the elegance of the hotel’s marbled halls and the personal service echoing with every slice.

The beauty of such a gift is in its enduring utility matched with its sentimental value.

As years pass and the knife ages, its patina telling its tale, it becomes a legacy—a piece of heritage that can be passed down through generations. The stories it tells will be not only of its making but of the hands it has passed through, and the bond it represents between the art of craftsmanship and the art of living well.

In this way, the gifts selected in the serene confines of a luxury hotel transcend their initial exchange. They become cherished companions in the guest’s lifestyle, perennial reminders of the sophistication and splendor of their travels, offering both utility and a timeless connection to a fleeting experience of luxury.

Conclusion

In the world of luxury travel, the essence of a destination is often captured not just in the sights and sounds of the locale but in the exquisite tokens of the journey brought back home. For the sophisticated traveler, the art of selection is about finding gifts that echo the refinement and exclusivity of their experiences – pieces that are not merely acquired but are a rich narrative of culture, artistry, and personal significance.

The custom knife and its compatriots – the porcelain chess sets, the historical daggers – are embodiments of this high echelon of elegance. They are more than mere souvenirs; they are emblems of a traveler’s discernment and taste, objects that carry with them an air of the places and the moments that have been savored.

To hold such a piece is to hold a story, a memory, and a testament to the timelessness of true quality. And as these gifts become part of the receiver’s world, they also stand as a testament to the bespoke nature of their origins – crafted not for the many, but for the singular.

We invite you to encapsulate the moments of your next journey with a memento that resonates with the very essence of exclusivity and elegance. On your next stay, we welcome you to visit our gift shop, where the shelves are lined with the unique, the handcrafted, and the personal. Here, each selection you make is not just a transaction – it is the beginning of a new story, a new memory, a new tradition.

Step into the world where elegance meets exclusivity, and take home more than just a gift – take home a piece of the journey itself.

A precious crystal in a collection of New York hotels. French chic and aristocratic brilliance in the world capital of the 21st century – this is the flagship hotel of the new new Baccarat hotel brand, which nevertheless has centuries-old European roots.

Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York is the first hotel of the famous Baccarat house, with which it opens the history of the new hotel brand Baccarat Hotels & Resorts.

The extraordinary hotel is located in a magnificent building in one of the best neighborhoods of Manhattan right in front of the Museum of Modern Art. The architectural masterpiece, a fifty-story prismatic tower resembling a Baccarat crystal, was created by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

The spacious interiors combine classic luxury with a modern approach to the vision of living spaces. Hand-woven silk fabrics, tapestries and carpets, carefully selected natural stone samples, silver décor, objets d’art – every piece of furniture and every detail was thought out and created by the architects Gilles & Boissier especially for this hotel. And, of course, they filled the spaces with the glittering brilliance of Baccarat crystal.

Another pride of the hotel is its magnificent art collection. Frédéric Chambre, a renowned Parisian art historian and antique dealer, collected outstanding works of art from the seventeenth century to the present day especially for the hotel and the Baccarat House, and today they have taken their rightful place in the beautiful interiors of the New York hotel. In addition, the hotel’s lobby and residential floor lobbies are adorned with original Baccarat Harcourt pieces decorated by eleven renowned American artists.

In addition, Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York is:

  • a gastronomic restaurant led by Chef Shea Gallante, who has already earned a Michelin star,
  • a La Mer spa and a marvelous swimming pool,
  • vintage bright red CitroenDS are available for trips within 15 blocks,
  • Fauchon delicacies and Maison Francis Kurkdjian cosmetics in the rooms,
  • a highly professional staff guaranteeing impeccable service: “The best that can be done, not the best that one can do”.

The Chateau Marmont Hotel is located in the West Hollywood neighborhood on Sunset Boulevard and is one of the famous hotels of the world. The hotel building is a solid structure that looks like a Gothic castle with towers and thick walls. It is built in the likeness of the French castle of Amboise. Originally, the building where the Chateau Marmont Hotel is located today, was built as an income house, but this idea failed. In 1931 the empty chateau was bought by the Englishman Albert Smith and turned it into a luxury hotel. Until now, the decoration of the hotel is made in retro style. The unique charm, atmosphere of the past, special chic, loyal attitude to the guests attract a large number of show business stars to the hotel.

The main principles of the hotel’s work are non-interference in the private life of guests and loyal attitude to them. This is the reason why the Chateau Marmont hotel is the most favorite place for stars to stay, where they have the opportunity to hide from prying journalists and relax “to the fullest”. You can leave and enter the hotel not only through the reception, but also through a special elevator from the underground parking lot, as well as an underground tunnel that leads to the adjacent building. Thus, the famous and rich guests of the hotel, if they wish, can disregard the generally accepted rules of behavior, while not being afraid of being noticed. Throughout the history of the hotel there have been many bright events, including tragic ones. So in 1969, after moving from the hotel Chateau Marmont to a nearby house, a pregnant friend of Roman Polanski was murdered by the gang of Charles Manson.

In 1982, popular actor John Belushi died of an overdose at the hotel. The members of Led Zeppelin often stayed at the hotel and did some outrageous things. For example, all four naked sat on motorcycles and rode through the corridors of the hotel. And once at a party near their bungalow, John Bonham dressed up as a waiter, laid naked guitarist Jimmy Page on a serving table, covered him with a fig leaf of lettuce and drove to the main building. He miraculously made it through the reception and into the restaurant where the hotel guests were dining, Page threw the leaf off of himself and jumped up on the nearest table. Jim Morrison, in an attempt to walk along a ledge in order to get to his room, fell onto a shed in the courtyard and broke his back.

After the dazzling success of “Titanic” Leonardo DiCaprio appeared in the hotel Chateau Marmont, where he threw such parties that the staff was horrified by what was happening. Thus, DiCaprio was asked several times to leave the hotel, but he always returned. In the same situation was Britney Spears, staying at the hotel. She too was asked to leave the hotel because there was too loud screaming in her room at night, she took offense and never came back. Lindsay Lohan was blacklisted as an unwanted guest because she owed a million dollars when she stayed at the Chateau Marmont and was in no hurry to pay her bills. And this is not the whole list of celebrities who stayed in this hotel and both romantic and tragic events that took place here.

The Roosevelt Hotel is a world famous hotel that is located in Hollywood, Los Angeles. It is named after Theodore Roosevelt, the twenty-sixth president of the United States. The hotel was built with private donations from famous Hollywood personalities, such as Mary Pickford, Louis Meyer, Douglas Fairbanks, and one of the investors was Charlie Chaplin. The hotel opened in 1927.

The Roosevelt Hotel is also a historic landmark in the city. Nearby are the Hollywood Walk of Stars, the Chinese Theater, which hosts the bulk of movie premieres, the Kodak Theater, where the Academy Awards are held. A short drive away are the Universal Studios movie theme parks and the luxurious Beverly Hills neighborhood of the city. On May 16, 1929, the Roosevelt Hotel hosted the first and shortest (5 minutes) ever, Academy Awards ceremony (13 statuettes awarded in total). Since the hotel was founded, it has been attached to the status of “home of the stars”. Bruce Willis, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Shirley Temple, Michelle Pfeiffer, Harold Lloyd and many other celebrities have stayed here at various times. A little known star at the time, Marilyn Monroe, posed for the first time in the hotel pool to advertise sunscreen.

Very interestingly, the Roosevelt Hotel is believed to be home to at least two ghosts: Montgomery Clift and Marilyn Monroe. Clift lived at the hotel in 1953, where he was rehearsing his role for the movie “From Now and Forever and Ever.” It is said that his ghost often appears in his former room 928, wandering the hallways and playing the trumpet. And Marilyn Monroe’s image is repeatedly reflected in the mirror that was once in her favorite room and today stands in the hotel lobby. In addition to the ghosts of Monroe and Clift, other ghosts of famous personalities, such as George Reeves, have been seen here.

Parapsychologists, investigating these unusual phenomena, came to the opinion that such a cluster of ghosts in the same place is associated with the first Oscar ceremony and therefore the ghosts of famous people do not leave the hotel without attention. The Roosevelt Hotel often acts as a movie set. After the renovation in 2005, the hotel became even more popular among the young Hollywood generation because of the trendy nightclub Teddy’s, which is located on the first floor of the hotel.
